Montreal's Fourth Annual Anarchist Bookfair, the largest anarchist gathering in North America after the San Francisco Bay Area Anarchist Bookfair, is an important sharing of anarchist and anti-authoritarian ideas for anarchists and non-anarchists alike. This year's bookfair will feature more than 50 booksellers and groups from all over North America, as well as the Federation Anarchiste from France. Workshop presenters include Bo Brown, Ashanti Alston, Eric Drooker and Cindy Milstein. Festival of Anarchy events will take place between May 1 and May 18.

Repeating the success of last year's separate day of workshops, this year there will once again be an entire day dedicated to anarchist-oriented workshops and panels (see schedule). The day of workshops will take place on SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2003, at 1710, rue Beaudry (metro Beaudry, see location for directions) between 11am to 5pm. Unfortunately, only the main floor at this space is wheelchair accessible.

As a welcoming event, the panel and discussion Anarchist Against the War will take place Friday May 16th at 7pm at 1710 Beaudry. Panelists include: Cindy Milstein (Institute for Anarchist Studies, Institute for Social Ecology and Free Society Collective - Vermont), Ashanti Alston (Anarchist Panther Zine, Critical Resistance and Blacks Against the War - New York City), Wally Rosel (Fédération Anarchiste - France), Harsha Walia (No One Is Illegal Campaign - Montreal), and Benoit Desgreniers (Groupe Anarchiste Bête Noire, NEFAC - Montreal). Followed by New York City artist Eric Drooker & Montreal cabaret artist Norman Nawrocki with a slideshow, music and words ( $5).

All bookfair events are free, but donations are appreciated. Proceeds from this year's anarchist bookfair will be divided between the Montreal Political Prisoner Calendar Collective, the North American Anarchist People of Colour Conference (Detroit, October 2003), Les Pages Noires (Anarchist Infoshop in Quebec City) and La Biblioteca Social Reconstruir (Anarchist Library in Mexico City).

There will be free childcare available at the panel May 16, and on May 17 and 18. Bring your kids!
