Caravan of peace for clean Black Sea

Dear Friends!

We, few ecological groups of the Black Sea coast and some concerned individuals are planning Protest Action "Peace Caravan for clean Black sea" this august on Russian cost of Black Sea. Two pipelines, two projects made by TNC are going to function on Russian cost of Black sea - oil pipeline CPC (Caspian Pipeline Consortium) and gas pipeline "Blue Stream" (Russian gas goes to Turkey at the ground of Black Sea in depth of lie 2500 m. -there is no such precedent in the world of making pipelines on this depths). Transnational corporations on the Russia's territory is quite often acting by means of principal coyoting-business (rapacious open-cast and using of resources of third countries without taking under the consideration ecological security ) «Chevron» - the main share-holder of CPC is known by many international ecological organizations specifically because of this kind of activities.

Both projects were made with violation of norms of environmental security, the works had been started either before finishing of inference of ecological expertise or by evasion of the inference and recommendations of this committees. Oil pipeline CPC was constructed in the region of relic, putted in the Red Book juniper woods that was taken away together with the ground while constructing of structures of the project. Gas pipeline «Blue Stream» is going through territory of National Reserve of the second sanitary zone of resort-city Gelendjik.

So, in august 06 -16 we are marching from gas to oil pipeline with participation of musicians, artists, ecologists, and volunteers , trying to awoke local citizens from deep lack of self-confidence and to show TNC, that we are not going to let them use our land and nature this way. The goals of this action is the limitation of TNC activities threaten to ecological security of territories used for the goals by them We hope to convince foreign NGO to pressure on "Chevron", "Shell" and other CPC participants and also shareholders of «Blue Stream» in other countries.

**** Program of the Caravan:

6th of August Beginning of the Caravan.
Action in the planned site of "Blue stream" in village of Arhipo-Osipovka.

7-8th of August leafletting actions in the villages of Pshada, Beregovoe and Krinitsa.

9th of August Concert in the Parus cliff of Proskoveevka and tourists centers nearby.

10th-11th of August March along the coast to the city of Gelendzhik. Actions in the villages of Dzhanhot, Divnomorsk and tourist centers along the way.

12th of August Action and concert in Gelendzhik.

13th of August March to the village of Kbardinki. Action and concert in Kabardinki.

14th of August Caravan arrives to the city of Novorossisk. Big concert.

15th of August March continues to Yuzhnaya Ozereyka, where finish of CPC oil pipe is under construction. Last action and concert of the march in the spot.

You need a tent and a sleeping bag. No drugs, no alcohol.

You may arrive by first reaching Novorossisk (if you travel by train, book return ticket beforehand since it is peak of the tourist season), and then taking a bus to Sochi direction. Jump away in the village of Arhipo-Osipovka, walk to sea and then southwards about 30 minutes, to Cherkesskoy scheli where march will begin.
